Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Mark this up as yet another success by LucasArts. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic exemplifies what every game should be. I will go as far to say that this is the greatest game in Xbox history. I loved this game and I can tell you that you will too.

No game beats the gameplay on this game. From using the power of the Force to wielding two light sabers at once, the gameplay is wonderful. Your interaction with others and your actions all shape the way you are viewed and ultimately, what side of the Force you ally yourself with. Even your sex determines how others view you. Most missions allow you to choose up to 2 extra people to come along with you. You can even play as any one of these characters. In KOTOR, you can also choose what type of person you will be and even what type of Jedi you will become. One neat feature is the ability to customize your own light saber! Is that cool or what? Every detail that could be accounted for is present in this game and not even Halo, in my opinion, can contend with the "Force" of this game.

Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. That is all that I can say. The only reason is that it is not a 10 is because the loading and transitions between scenes could have been better. However, the worlds that you go through are superbly intricate and detailed. The buildings, levels, weapons, armor, and combat are all beautifully illustrated in KOTOR. The only game whose graphics beat KOTOR's is Halo. I must say, well done LucasArts.

Very few flaws are in this soundtrack. The music in every level and situation is where it needs to be. I enjoyed listening to the game as well as playing it. The character's voices are perfect and all the other little sounds that are lacking in many other games are not lacking here. The only minor drawback to the sound is the dialogue, which sometimes takes a bit to get through. Other than that, they did an amazing job.

Replay Value

Much like Gladius, KOTOR has an extreme amount of replay value. Should I be Dark or Light? Should I be a Soldier, a Scout, or a Scoundrel? Should I be male or female? Should I use blasters or a light saber? Should I be a Jedi Sentinel, Consular, or Guardian? These are just a handful of questions that you ask yourself as you begin your adventure again, again, and again.

Bottom Line:

To this day, I still say there is no better game on Xbox. I rented this game the first time I played it. I did it because of the reputation that it had taken up. I had 6 days to beat it. The last night, I played it until 3:30am in order to beat it because this game is just that good. The best part is that there is now a second KOTOR coming out. Go out and buy it. You won't be disappointed.
